Understanding your new Time of Use bill
With your new pricing plan now in effect, you can avoid Peak pricing by using less electricity between Peak hours, Monday to Friday. Pay the lowest rate for electricity overnight, between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m..
From your first new bill, you’ll see the Peak, Off Peak and Super Off Peak detail for the most recent billing period. As you continue to take advantage of the new pricing plan, you’ll be able to see your month to month trends.
Peak periods cost the most, just like on the LIRR so shift energy use away from the afternoon peak hours on weekdays. You’ll get the best deal when you move as much usage as possible to the low-priced Super Off Peak period from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m..

This chart offers you insights into the costs of energy for each time block. By moving usage out of Peak and into Super Off Peak, you can take control of your monthly bill like never before. Your new Time of Use pricing plan comes with all new tools to help you better understand your bill and better manage your usage,. With a Peak period running from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays and weekends), the Short Peak plan limits peak hours to only about 9% of all annual hours. This plan may be the easiest to adapt to in your home if you want to get the benefits of Time of Use with only a small window of time to avoid using high demand appliances.

With a Peak period running from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays and weekends), Peak hours are limited to only about 12% of all annual hours. The Late Peak plan may be the best for you if your work and recreational schedule keep you away from home on late afternoons during the hottest parts of the day in summer.

With a Peak period running from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays and weekends), peak hours are limited to only about 12% of all annual hours. The Early Peak plan may work well for you if your schedule and lifestyle keep you away from home earlier in the afternoon during the hottest parts of the day in summer.

The Overnight plan has only two rate periods: Day and Night. The low Night rate offers a 40% discount from a flat rate and allows you to charge electric vehicles or run appliances overnight while eliminating the need to adjust your usage during a peak period Monday to Friday.

This Dix Hills customer is charging an electric vehicle overnight. The EV uses most of the energy in the household and it is charging on the low Super Off Peak rate. So by charging overnight this customer is saving an average of $39.61 per month - which is about the same as a full tank of gas.
