PSEG Long Island Announces New Program for Local Seniors

PSEG Long Island is launching Senior Connections, a new program focused on helping seniors in the community navigate through a range of important topics. Under the program, PSEG Long Island is providing subject-matter experts to address groups of seniors about storm preparation, scam prevention, electric safety, energy efficiency and financial assistance.

Heavy rain and winds exceeding 50 mph across the service territory have downed trees, branches and wires, currently affecting 946 of 1.2 million electric customers across Long Island and the Rockaways. As of 11:15 AM, PSEG Long Island has restored power to more than 17,600 customers affected by the storm since 7 AM Sunday.
 

Prepared for Snow and Strong Winds

PSEG Long Island is prepared for a weather system that is expected to bring wet snow, heavy rain and strong winds across Long Island and the Rockaways Saturday afternoon into Monday. Snow accumulation on Saturday could reach 2 inches. Peak wind gusts on Sunday afternoon through Monday evening could reach 55 mph, strong enough to potentially topple trees, bring down branches on wires and cause outages.
