Plainview Volunteer Fire Department Secures Nearly $30,000 in Energy Efficiency Rebates from PSEG Long Island

(UNIONDALE, N.Y. – July 25, 2024) PSEG Long Island applauds the Plainview Volunteer Fire Department for saving money and energy with building improvement projects at its firehouses.

The fire department received energy efficiency rebates of $29,821 from PSEG Long Island for replacing more than 600 interior and exterior lighting fixtures and lights – 410 lights and fixtures at the Old Country Road firehouse and 230 additional units at the Round Swamp Road firehouse. Implementing these energy saving measures is expected to save the fire department approximately $22,000 on its energy costs each year.

“Kudos to the Plainview Volunteer Fire Department for keeping an eye on saving energy while making building improvements to its firehouses. We commend the department for being good stewards of their finances and the earth. These projects will yield significant savings for the department into the future.”

- Michael Voltz, Director of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, PSEG Long Island

“The PSEG Long Island rebates made it possible for us to upgrade our lighting in our firehouses,” said Mike Michitsch, ex-chief and current board member of the Plainview Volunteer Fire Department. “We are optimistic that we will see savings in our future energy costs and equally pleased that there will be less maintenance, as there are no ballasts or bulbs to replace in the new energy efficient LED lighting fixtures.”
