PSEG Long Island Reminds Customers They Can Get Restoration Details Via the Outage Tracker

(UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Oct. 28, 2024) With one month remaining in an active hurricane season, PSEG Long Island reminds customers that they can get detailed information about the status of their outage through the Outage Tracker feature on the company’s free mobile app.

“PSEG Long Island developed the Outage Tracker because we listen to what customers are telling us. While people on Long Island and in the Rockaways recognize that our crews work hard in difficult conditions to get the lights back on, they want to know more than just the estimated time of restoration. They want the peace of mind that comes with knowing that their outage report has been received and what stage the restoration is currently at. Our mobile app already allowed customers to report outages, so we built on that functionality, providing a full perspective on our progress that is instantly familiar to anyone who uses their phone to have something delivered.”

-  Michael Presti, Director of Customer Experience and Marketing, PSEG Long Island

The Outage Tracker displays in the app as a journey: Outage Acknowledged; Assessing Outage; and Restoration in Progress; all leading toward Power Restored. The “progress” line fills in with color as each stage is achieved.

From the Outage Tracker screen, customers can also sign up to receive text alerts, emails, and push notifications about their outage, as well as view the full MyPower map and activate their device’s “flashlight” feature in case they are just reporting the outage from a newly darkened room.

The PSEG Long Island mobile app also allows customers to

  • Pay bills and update payment options
  • Manage text, email and push notifications with MyAlerts
  • View energy usage
  • Report outages and get restoration updates
  • Open or close accounts right in the app
  • Submit start, stop, and move requests
  • Access their Appliance Use report
