EV Owners and TOD Rates
Electric Vehicle Owners and Time-of-Day Rates
Electric vehicle owners can save automatically on all Time-of-Day Rate Plans by charging during off-peak hours.
EV charging and the new standard rate
On the standard Time-of-Day Off-Peak Rate, you can save money by charging your electric vehicle during lower-cost off-peak hours: before 3 PM and after 7 PM Monday to Friday and all day weekends and federal holidays.
Extra super off-peak savings
A great rate plan option for EV owners is the Time-of-Day Super Off-Peak Rate. This rate has overnight super off-peak hours seven days a week, which cost up to 40% less than the traditional Flat Rate.
High-capacity EV batteries may consume 30 to 50 kWh in one charging cycle. If you charge your EV overnight 365 days a year, you could see significant savings on your energy bills.
Set it and forget it
Most electric vehicles and EV chargers provide the convenience of a timer that lets you charge your EV at a specific time. Be sure to set it to charge outside of peak hours.
