Reliability Projects

We're making upgrades to enhance our system's ability to withstand extreme weather and meet energy demands.

PSEG Long Island continues to make improvements to its energy infrastructure in order to increase reliability and minimize outages affecting our customers. We are committed to making every effort to ensure our grid is resilient during storms. Over the coming months, you will see workers strengthening the transmission and distribution lines in your area. While this work is being performed, traffic and parking may be impacted along the route.

Project Specifics
PSEG Long Island is installing a new underground cable and upgrading overhead lines and equipment to meet current standards and growing demand for electricity in the Bridgehampton area. The project will utilize horizontal directional drilling to minimize the need to trench or otherwise disturb the roadway or properties. Temporary drill pits will be installed in some areas and limited trenching will be required to tie-in the new cable to existing equipment.

Project Route
A new underground cable will be installed going north on Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike to Jermain Avenue traveling east, then south to Suffolk Street and Sagg Road. In addition, 141 wood distribution poles will be replaced and installed with similar height and size from Jermain Avenue traveling south to Madison Street, Susan Street and Sagg Road.

Project Timeline
Construction is expected to begin in early October 2022 with an anticipated completion date of June 2023. Crews will be working Monday through Friday from approximately 8am – 5pm.
