County Road 51 Transmission and Distribution Underground Project
We will be working on a transmission line along County Road 51 in Manorville/Eastport. While this work is being performed, traffic may be impacted along the route.
Project Specifics
This project will underground approximately 1,300 feet of an existing overhead transmission line on County Road 51 near the County Road 111 overpass. This work will also include:
- The removal of five (5) steel transmission poles, the replacement of two (2) steel transmission poles with steel transmission riser poles located near the northbound entrance and southbound exit of County Road 111 to County Road 51.
- The installation of four (4) new wood distribution poles on the western shoulder of County Road 51.
Route
The route will begin on the west side of County Road 51 approximately 500 feet north of County Road 111 and proceed south on County Road 51 approximately 1,300 feet. There will be minimal traffic disruptions along the project route. To ensure traffic moves safely, PSEG Long Island will provide cones, flagmen and signage at the work sites, as needed.
Timeline
Construction is expected to begin in early March 2025 and will be completed by the end of May 2025. Crews will work Monday – Friday, 7 am-5 pm. Occasional and limited weekend work may occur as needed.

- Will there be tree trimming?
Trees growing near power lines significantly increase the chance of power outages and pose safety risks. As we reconfigure and improve our electric circuits, we will trim trees, where necessary, following our utility best practice model (ANSI A300 standards as well as the Best Management Practices Tree Pruning publication): 8 feet to each side; 12 feet above; and 10 feet below the line. - Will there be any power outages?
