Riverhead to Eastport Reconductoring

Reliability Projects

We're making upgrades to enhance our system's ability to withstand extreme weather and meet energy demands.

Project Overview

PSEG Long Island reconductored a 69 kilovolt (kv) cable from the Riverhead substation to the Eastport substation and the entire circuit was reinsulated and reconductored. The upgrades were necessary to keep pace with the growing demand for electricity in eastern Brookhaven and western Southampton.

Project Route

Worked was performed on Eastport-Manor Road (CR 55) from the substation on Montauk Highway (CR80) north to East Moriches – Riverhead Road (CR 51); northeast along CR 51 from CR 55 to the LIPA right-of-way; and within the LIPA right-of-way north of CR 51, crossing Nugent Drive (CR 94), to the Riverhead substation.

Construction began in April 2017 and was completed in June 2017.
