PSEG Long Island offers a number of programs to help make the transition to electric vehicles seamless through discounted residential rates, and incentives for charging at home, work or on the road.

Vehicle Types

BEV

Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)

  • Powered by: Electricity - using electric motor(s) and batteries. No engine. No tailpipe emissions.
  • Range: Between 250 – 400 miles.
  • Charger Type: Level 1, 2, and DC Fast Chargers
PHEV

Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)

  • Powered by: Combination of electric motor(s), a medium-sized battery and an engine as backup.
  • Range: 10 - 40 miles with the engine available to extend its range, based on its fuel economy.
  • Charger Type: Level 1 and 2 chargers.
HEV

Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV)

  • Powered by: Electric motor(s), engine, and a small-sized capacity battery that is used for stop-and-go traffic. 
  • Range: No electric range. Overall range based on fuel economy of the HEV.
  • Charger Type: These vehicles do not plug into an EV charger.
