Main Street Revitalization Program
The Main Street Revitalization Program is designed to encourage economic vitality and growth of a business district. This program offers financial incentive awards for customers undertaking renovation or expansion projects to startup or grow their business. Eligible projects may include:
- Interior renovations
- Façade improvements
- Streetscape improvements
- Other investments that would enhance the economic viability/vibrancy of the business district

- Applicants may qualify for maximum award of up to $25,000 based on capital investment and categories above in Tier 1.
- Only applicants with projects that are receiving matching grants from other entities may apply for Tier 2 award of up to $100,000 with a maximum of $1 to $1 match with other grants. Applicant must provide evidence of other source/amount of grants.
- Awardees identified in a Disadvantaged Community (DAC) as per NYSERDA may receive an additional 10% bonus. For qualification of 10% bonus, contact us at PSEG-LI-economicdevelopment@pseg.com
- PSEG Long Island retains the sole right to select awardees and determine award amounts.
- Award will be paid by PSEG Long Island upon completion of renovation, and applicant is open for business with a Certificate of Occupancy. Paid invoices, contractor sign-off and C.O. must be submitted before being reimbursed.
- The sum of all grants cannot exceed the total cost of the project, including grant awarded from PSEG Long Island.
- Any award provided may only be used by the recipient for the stated and approved use. PSEG Long Island reserves the right to withhold the award if the substance of the project changes or the requirements of the program are not met.
- Award recipients will be responsible for accurately and appropriately accounting for any awards and resulting tax implications. Applicants should consult with an accountant prior to submitting their application.
- In the event that the award recipient utilizes a contractor or other agent to accomplish the project goals, PSEG Long Island makes no warranty, guarantee, or representation, express or implied, with regard to materials or workmanship provided by these agents or contractors, nor the costs charged by the agent or contractor.
- PSEG Long Island makes no warranty, guarantee, or representation, express or implied, with regard to any economic benefits, energy savings, or cost savings that may result from use of this Program’s funds. Award recipient understands and agrees that PSEG Long Island is not liable for any financial losses related to the applicant’s participation in the Program, or if the expected benefits of the project are not achieved.

The following guidelines will be used to administer and manage the program:
- Applicant must be business owner/electric account holder.
- Business may only apply once per site.
- New development buildings do not qualify.
- Qualified work includes substantial construction projects (not cosmetic work).
- Applicants need to apply for program prior to construction.
- Program application approval is not guaranteed.
- Applicant agrees to provide economic information to PSEG Long Island or its approved agent in order to verify the economic benefit of the award for a period of two (2) years after issuance of the final award payment.
- Applicant must be located in a business district within PSEG Long Island service territory. Applicant must be maintaining all existing electric accounts in good standing with no arrears.
- Applicant must secure required building permits and complete the project in accordance with all applicable building codes, zoning ordinances, and standard construction practices. Contractors must be properly registered, licensed, and insured.
- Applications will be evaluated based on potential economic growth, community impact, capital investment, project team experience, local support, use of energy efficiency technologies, financial need and location.
- PSEG Long Island will conduct pre-inspection and post-inspection of site associated with project, as well as request project status updates periodically.
- Applicant agrees to participate in PSEG Long Island marketing and promotional activities related to any award provided for a period of up to two (2) years after issuance of final award payment.
- PSEG Long Island to be included in ribbon-cutting/grand opening events and photos. Business and/or affiliated local Chamber of Commerce to tag @PSEG Long Island and utilize #PSEGLI and #BusinessFirst in social media in reference to assistance provided by PSEG Long Island.
