- NYS Cooling Benefit
Overseen by the state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, this program can provide an air conditioner to those susceptible to the effects of extreme heat and humidity. Eligible households include someone who has a documented medical condition exacerbated by extreme heat, or households with young children, or older adults. The program is active from May 1, through August 31 or until funds are exhausted. Customes may apply by contacting their local departments of social services by phone or in person. - Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
Even though the weather is getting warmer, many people are still struggling to pay this year’s heating bills. Help is available with HEAP! HEAP is a federally funded program that assists qualifying New Yorkers with the cost of heating their homes. These benefits are not a loan.
